1.

  • System Engineering
  • Piping and Instrument Diagram (P & I D) review and improvement
  • Engineering change management (modifications)
  • Plant and site visits to assess plant performance
  • Process engineering – design vs. actual plant performance
  • Heat Exchanger design in accordance with HEI standards and codes
  • Pressure vessel design in accordance with relevant standards viz. BS 806, ASME Div. 8, EN 13480, DIN, API, etc.
  • Incident investigations & root cause analysis
  • Conduct, Review and Approve Design Calculations
  • Advise and recommend correct material selection for high pressure and high temperature applications

e.g. piping, valves and plate with alloy materials.

  • Conduct feasibility and reliability studies
  • Conduct (Hazards and Operational Studies) HAZOP studies
  • Compile control and operating philosophies

  1. Commissioning and Optimisation

  • Compile commissioning philosophies and procedures
  • Decommission plant before project or outage commences
  • Recommissioning of plant after project or outage
  • Optimise plant to operate as per design criteria and standards of relevant plant.

  1. Outage Management

  • Planning of outages
  • Executing of outages
  • Integrating activities between various departments or contractors etc.

  1. Project Management

  • Managing of various types of projects i.e. capital, operational.
  • Managing the resources, schedules, budgets and equipment (spares) to equally ensure time, cost and quality standards are maintained to meet customer needs.
  1. Maintenance

  • Plan Maintenance schedules
  • Coordinate maintenance work and manage company personnel and contractors
  • Compile maintenance strategies, philosophies and procedures for different maintenance regimes as per client business requirements viz.

  • Predictive Maintenance – Plant analysis by various techniques – vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, etc.
  • Preventative Maintenance – Planned and routine schedules – alternating of running plant where redundancy is available
  • Reactive Maintenance – Run to failure methodology

  1. Training and Skills Development

  • Mentor engineers, technologists and technicians
  • Transfer skills and knowledge via training
  • Compile training modules
  • Review existing training modules and update and improve training techniques and content

  1. Change Management

  • Assist and Facilitate organisations to accept change
  • Socioeconomic (unemployment, reducing the effects of strikes, create harmonious working environments)
  • Engineering – embrace advances in technology, effects of environmental regulations and its impact on organisations
  • Economic changes (higher taxes, effects of interest rates {high or low}, loss or gain of market share, improve business process by continuous improvement and setting higher achievable standards)

  1. Energy Efficiency Studies

Organisations need to use energy efficiently and effectively to be competitive below is a list that can assist with this process:

  • Use low energy lighting
  • Energy efficient air conditioning such as heat pumps, etc.
  • More natural light and ventilation
  • Renewable energy buildings – that have solar panels
  • Organisations need to have back up generators in case of power outages to lessen the production loss
  • Use bio fuels to generate steam for processes
  • If possible and viable organisations should try to use their own power generating equipment to meet their own energy needs and produce a small amount of additional power that could be exported to the national grid and thus generate additional income for the organisation. This will eliminate total dependence on state energy utilities
